But last week, Trump defended Flynn as he castigated Comey, saying Flynn's life has been "totally destroyed" while "shadey" James Comey can "Leak and Lie" and make "lots of money" from his newly released memoir.
"It was a great report, no collusion, which I knew anyway". No coordination, no nothing. "Wow! A total Witch Hunt!"
The report's release comes as a Russian lawyer who met in June 2016 with Trump campaign officials at the then-candidate's eponymous Manhattan tower acknowledged her ties to Russia were more extensive than she initially led on. The report also dubbed the campaign's praise of WikiLeaks "objectionable".
Along with alleged links between the Russian government and the Trump and Clinton campaigns, the investigation examined Russian interference in the 2016 USA election, the US government's response to the meddling, and leaks of classified information.
"Mr. President, to conclude there is "no evidence" of collusion, you must ignore Russia's extensive efforts to help your campaign, the litany of communications between Russian Federation & your campaign, & the massive effort to hide these contacts", Schiff said.
Panel Democrats fiercely opposed the conclusion, arguing that the committee did not interview enough witnesses or gather enough evidence to support its finding. The Majority provided its draft one hundred fifty-page report to the Minority for review only days before the Committee was set to vote on its adoption.
On "Happening Now", Strassel said criticizing or threatening to fire Mueller won't help Trump, and explained two bold actions she believes he could take to "reset" the Russian Federation dynamic.
However, not one Democrat from the committee signed off on the report. The panel found "no credible evidence" that the computer systems were compromised by another cyber actor or by "an insider threat".
The House panel did find that Russian Federation sought to sow discord in the U.S. through cyberattacks and social media.
Trump immediately celebrated the report's findings.
Conaway said the committee had pledged to be "as transparent as possible" with the report.
But.maybe now the House Intel Committee can launch an investigation into that! But the probe did provide important public revelations.
Democrats on the committee have said that their Republican counterparts rushed the investigation and closed it prematurely.
Despite the conclusion of the House investigation, the report stresses that other investigations are ongoing and may dig up new information. In his absence, Conaway took over the probe.
The process began with the so-called "midnight run" in March 2017 when Nunes went to the White House complex at night to view classified information he later suggested revealed wrongdoing by the Obama administration. "And it's very clear the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation are doing their very best to keep it hidden, even from Congress", Strassel said. Trump ultimately chose to declassify the sensitive contents of the memo - including details from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act application for Page.
However, the Committee did acknowledge that "i$3 n 2015, Russian Federation began engaging in a covert influence campaign aimed at the USA presidential election".
Flynn lost his job over the Russian Federation contacts controversy - and as recently as December, even President Trump claimed Flynn had "lied" to agents.
