All-new Ford Focus revealed

The revised styling continues in the cabin as designers installed a new instrument cluster, satin aluminum accents and high gloss finishes. What do you have?

"We grabbed it with both hands, to develop the best mid-size family vehicle that money can buy".

We weren't able to see much in Ford's brief teaser of its new Ford Focus, but we liked the compact car's new face, especially its more aggressive headlights.

Ford may be grappling with the global shift toward utility vehicles by killing off some of its auto nameplates, including the Ford Fiesta, but the Focus compact is here to stay for awhile. This will streamline a number of common components like engines, electronics, and sunroofs.

"We don't spend that time and resources on things that might happen or might not happen", Fleet said. Ford didn't specify what powertrains would be available in the US when it goes on sale next year, although one or more of those engines should make the trip overseas. Photo: Ford Motor Company.

In Europe, customers have a 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel available.

Ford says the Focus engines bound for North America will be announced closer to the car's launch. The new Focus also debuts a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The new Focus goes on sale today, priced from £17,930 for the Style hatchback - which is £2,300 less than the equivalent previous model.
