Shown in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show, this concept is living up to the letter: more of everything. It will be part of the 25 new electrified models the company has outlined for 2025, essentially one of the 12 pure electric models in the line-up. No timeframe for the i4's entry into the market was announced, but the company is set to deploy a number of models ahead of it. The series-produced coupe - and possibly a convertible - will arrive first, most likely this autumn, followed by the arrival of the four-door Gran Coupe sometime next year.
Extending on the new 8 Series and the respective concept version, the M8 Gran Coupe concept showcases a stunning four-door coupe design that's meshed with the performance tones we've come to expect from BMW M. We are, of course, talking about the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door, which has just landed at the Swiss event that marked the introduction of the BMW M concept auto.
Elsewhere at the rear, the Concept M8 Gran Coupe displays the flowing C-pillar treatment, heavily sloping rear window and high-set trunklid that will feature on the production version of the 8-series Gran Coupe.
Commenting on the concept of the upcoming 8-Series Gran Coupe, the vice president of BMW M design, Domagoj Dukec, says: The Concept M8 Gran Coupe is created to stir things up, to polarize. Moving along the side, the long wheelbase is evident with a short rear. "With this vehicle, BMW M unmistakably brings luxury out of the "comfort zone".
From a styling perspective, the M8 Grand Coupe looks just like other 8 Series concepts that BMW has released.
We can't imagine how it could possibly outdo the tech and feature-rich Seven, so we're guessing the Eights will adopt much of the current flagship's gizmos and further the luxuriousness factor with fancier interior materials and more bespoke customer build processes.
