She wore an incredible tartan coat by Burberry, paying tribute to Scotland.

Crowds who had waited hours in the cold outside Edinburgh Castle, which dominates the skyline from a rock in the city centre, were thrilled with the smiling couple. "Meghan said, 'I'm not sure - it's sorted but it will be fun'".

Meghan Markle joined the Duke with a tartan coat and bottle green Strathberry East/West cross body bag designed in the Capital from Strathberry.

Today, they made their first stop at the esplanade in front of Edinburgh Castle where they were officially welcomed by the Royal Marines Scotland Band.

Pulling her look together, the 36-year-old future royal sported charcoal-colored almond-toe pumps to meet the Shetland pony named Cruachan IV, who is the regimental mascot of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

This union is much awaited worldwide, as was the case with Harry's elder brother, Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

During the Edinburgh visit, Meghan even entered a debate of the pronunciation of "scone".

The pony later used his Twitter account (1067 followers) to blame Harry for the nip: "The prince was teasing me". Meghan told the girl.

And while Ms Markle is known to keep her social circle small, there's one woman who has been right by her side throughout her real-life romance fairytale.

Is Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's sexiest girlfriend? Carolyn Chisholm, 43, from Airdrie, presented Meghan with some heart-shaped potato scones from the bakery she runs with her husband.

"I get asked this all the time like I know the royal family".

They then moved to Social Bite, a network of cafes set up to help the homeless which has previously welcomed George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and the Duchess of Cornwall.

In an interview with People she said: "The interest in the brand has been incredible".

The final part of the day was a visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse where the pair celebrated youth as part of Scotland's Year of Young People 2018 initiative. The order for the couple's day has already been revealed.
