Wind chill temperatures will be between 15 and 25 below zero today, especially this afternoon when winds pick up a little. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves and cover exposed skin. The kickoff temp of 14 won't rival the 2004 game against the Titans, but with wind chills around 0, it'll be a tailgate battle to stay warm. Monday's high will be near 9 degrees and wind chills reaching 17 below zero. New England will finally see some moderating temperatures for the middle of January.
New Year's Day (Monday): Very cold, cloudy with some drizzle and light sleet, especially inland... Boston hovers around 5 degrees at midnight and not that far off the record low of -3 the morning of New Years Day.
Wind Chills are expected to reach unsafe levels tonight and Monday. Places such as Boston are on track to break the longest stretch of below-20-degrees days in its recorded history.
Wednesday will feature mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-30s.
Happy New Year! The frigid air remains locked in place as we begin 2018 and it looks like that cold air will linger into a good part of this week. That's a funnel of cold air being piped down straight from the Arctic Circle.
