With the OnePlus 2, the company released a variant in Sandstone even as it moved to a metal frame.
OnePlus says that the Sandstone White model will be available "while supplies last", so if you're interested in picking one up, be sure to set a reminder for next Tuesday to place an order. It's created to mimic the smooth matte feel of earlier OnePlus handsets. As for pricing, it should be similar to other OnePlus 5T models of same configuration - CNY 3,499, or around $540. A new variant of the OnePlus 5T, listed by an established online retailer for sales beginning Friday, January 5, is described as "White Sandstone" confirming reports from last week. That unique texture that customers could enjoy when buying a sandstone smartphone seems to be very popular among OnePlus fans. I do wish that the volume rocker, power button, and SIM tray were also red or white, but they are the same black as the standard model. Now, the company is introducing a new option - Sandstone White.
First, a primer was applied to ensure the stability of the metal body. Finally, a UV layer is applied to further refine the tactile sensation. Taking a total of 75 minutes per phone, these high-precision, low yield processes make the body of the OnePlus 5T Sandstone White the most expensive we have ever produced. The company launched the OnePlus One with a Sandstone back cover that received acclaim for its uniquely grippy texture.
OnePlus's website misleadingly suggests the Sandstone White OnePlus 5T's price is $499, but a OnePlus spokesperson confirmed that it's $559 (the MSRP listed in the press release). It will cost £499 in the United Kingdom, €559 in the rest of Europe, and $559 in the U.S. when it goes on sale January 9 at 10AM ET.
