Cops say the man wiped the excrement in along the walls in a couple of bathrooms before he then took off his shirt and attempted to stuff it into a toilet. The cleaning process, however, forced each of the flight's passengers to spend the night in Alaska. The flyer was reportedly cooperative with the flight crew and remained seated after his bathroom escapades were stopped.
United Flight 895 traveling from Chicago to Hong Kong made an unscheduled landing in Anchorage due to a "passenger smearing feces everywhere", Ted Stevens International Airport Police told CBS affiliate KTVA.
The flight landed in Anchorage about 6:30 p.m. and was met by local and federal law enforcement, police said. The FBI says it is investigating the incident along with airport police.
Authorities announced that the alleged perpetrator has been taken to Providence Hospital to undergo a psychological evaluation and no charges have been placed at this time.
The plane was grounded overnight for maintenance and is slated to go back up in the air Friday afternoon.
The F.B.I.in Anchorage confirms that it was notified that a United Airlines flight was involved.
