Liverpool will need to spend at least £90m to land Thomas Lemar

Arsenal have moved Thomas Lemar back to the top of their wanted list and are prepared to test Monaco's resolve not to sell their star forward in January, says the Mirror.

However, with Liverpool losing Philippe Coutinho after a long and drawn out battle with Barcelona and Arsenal potentially seeing both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil leave the club, both clubs could use Thomas Lemar to fill the gaps.

But Jardim admits a big offer this month could mean Lemar makes a move to the Premier League before the current campaign is over.

Lemar would be a natural replacement for Coutinho but Liverpool FC could be forced to pay over the odds for the talented France attacker given Monaco will be aware of the Reds' inflated transfer budget.

"But the thing is as well, as much as I would would love him to go to Liverpool because I think he would suit this team perfectly, he can play in different positions, he's so good on set-pieces, that left foot is fantastic, I think Klopp would make him even more world-class than he already is in many ways, there's a couple of things". Sources at Monaco indicate that the player has no gentleman's agreement with the club that would allow him to leave this month. "We wait until the summer because we feel that's not the right time for us to sell". "The expectation still remains that Lemar will remain in Monaco beyond this month's deadline".

"You come to Liverpool..."

The France defender has been just a bit-part player at the Emirates under boss Arsene Wenger this season. Jardim has claimed that many things could happen in January and has kept the door open for Lemar sale. "But I can see why Liverpool want it to happen now as well".
