Kailash bar fire: Restaurant's owner absconding

The police has registered a case of negligence against the bar owner.

Five people were killed in the fire at the restaurant in the Kumbaara Sangha building in the wee hours of Sunday. The bar was nearly completely charred before the fire was brought under control in the early hours of Monday.

The incident occurred at 2.30 am at Kailash Bar and Restaurant when the employees were asleep. The bar is on the ground floor of the Kumbaara Sangha (Potters' Association) building. The five people who died were the workers or employees who were sleeping inside the restaurant.

The bodies were taken to a hospital in the city for post-mortem.

Authorities told the BBC that an inquiry had been launched to ascertain the cause of the fire.

After Kamala Mills tragedy, another incident of fire has been reported from Bengaluru. The fire department, which was alerted by the local people, rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. All the women were in their twenties or early thirties.
