Happy New Year 2018

People in Auckland, New Zealand, were amongst the first in the world to welcome the New Year on Monday (January 1) with a display of fireworks held on the iconic Sky Tower.

Notably, several celebrations are going across the world to give a cheerful goodbye to 2017 and welcome 2018 wholeheartedly.

The first European country to celebrate the beginning of the new year will be Russian Federation.

NY will ring in 1 January at 5am (GMT) followed by Los Angeles at 8am (GMT). I urge leaders everywhere to make these new years resolutions.

"SkyCity is proud to deliver the annual Sky Tower fireworks display that's enjoyed by locals and visitors across various vantage points in Auckland, and watched by many millions more via internet and TV broadcast".

New year celebrations have started around the world.

Meanwhile in South Korea, a display of more than 150,000 pyrotechnics lit the sky above Seoul.

The Americas will be the last continents to kick off the 2018 celebrations.

The countdown to the New Year took place at Yongdingmen Gate in Beijing, which was originally built in 1554 during the Ming Dynasty.
