The Focus ST formally introduced Americans to FoMoCo's high performance program and the Fiesta ST built on the popularity of the Focus, offering go-fast-fans two different options when shopping for a small, high performance auto. The said vehicle is titled the 2019 Ford Edge ST and it is set to be revealed for the first time at the Detroit Auto Show.
In the US Ford has also improved the standard kit list on the Edge, but it's not yet know if that will be reflected on United Kingdom models. Whether or not the buyer choses to relay that output to the front wheels or feed all four in an Edge spec'd with all wheel-drive, power will first be fed through a Ford-developed 8-speed automatic transmission. It also features upgraded braking equipment compared to the standard Edge, a sport-tuned suspension with firmer springs and more damping, and a stability control system with two different levels of "off-ness".
The Edge Sport has been rebadged as the Edge ST for 2019, with the 2.7-litre turbo V6 now making 335 hp in USA spec (up 20 hp) and 515 Nm of torque.
The 2019 Ford Edge goes on sale this summer.
Ford has whipped the covers off its Territory-replacing Endura due in the fourth quarter, with the large SUV making its debut this week as the facelifted Edge sold in overseas markets. The ST is also visually distinguishable - there's a new mesh grille, new ide skirts and a modified rear bumper with dual exhaust outlets, along with sportier seats inside.
The Edge ST - Ford's first-ever race-ready ute - joins the hot-hatch Fiesta ST, the Focus ST and rally-ready Focus RS, the Shelby 350 and 350R Mustangs, the F-150 Raptor mega-pickup, and the $400,000 roadgoing version of the Le Mans-winning GT supercar.
We want to like the all-new, 2019 Ford Edge ST - we really do. The old 3.5-liter V-6 in the Edge is no more.
New driver-assist features include post-collision braking, to reduce the possibility of additional damage following an accident; an available adaptive cruise control system that functions down to a full stop and resumption of speed; and Evasive Steering Assist.
The Ford Edge SUV has been given a bit of a facelift for and has been revealed ahead of its debut in the United States at the Detroit Motor Show.
The cabin will find a redesigned centre console, optional wireless charging pad in the forward media bin, and both SYNC with AppLink and FordPass Connect as standards.
