Rajinikanth says entering politics, will contest next TN Assembly elections



Chennai: The decade-long suspense over whether Rajinikanth would enter politics ended today, with the superstar's promised announcement made amid frenzied cheers of hundreds of supporters.

Amid thunderous applause, the actor, clad in a white kurta, asked "war means only election". So, I will announce my political stance on 31 December.

It is believed that Rajinikanth will extend his support to the Bharatiya Janata Party and would launch his outfit during Pongal with the party's support.

"My political entry is definite". Earlier, I said let the time come. I'm not new to politics.

The actor met almost a thousand fans from different districts of the state on the third day of the six-day fan interaction event at Raghavendra Marriage Hall in Kodambakkam. Anticipating an announecement, many of them have brought along placards, posters and banners with Rajini's photos. South Superstar Rajinikanth has made a request to all such fans.

Multiple fan events have sparked speculations about his much-awaited political debut in Tamil Nadu.

While Rajinikanth's fan meet reachout is still underway, many are also speculating and expecting a big announcement from Rajinikanth on his political journey. He told his fans to be "prepared for the war" saying he will seek out them when the time is right.

Addressing a large hall packed with his fans on Tuesday, Rajinikanth said, "In next assembly elections I will form a party and will contest all constituencies in Tamil Nadu".
