OR begins search for next head football coach

Report | Florida State to hire Willie Taggart

Oregon's Willie Taggart Has Reportedly Agreed To Be Florida State's Next Head Coach

On Tuesday he was named the new Head Coach for Florida State.

Taggart, a Florida native, spent one season in OR, going 7-5.

Before Oregon, Taggart coached at the University of South Florida.

OR co-OC and OL coach Mario Cristobal will serve as interim head coach.

Taggart leaves after spending a lone season at OR, where he turned the 7-5 Ducks back into a bowl team after they missed out on postseason play the prior year.

Eventually, you get too experienced to be viewed as a "up-and-coming head coach", and that day is approaching quickly for Taggart.Eventually, you have to win at a high level and Taggart has fast-forwarded that timeline by accepting this job. It's unclear who OR will hire to replace Taggart.

Mullens said the university has started a nationwide search for a new head coach.

And now he's the Seminoles' next head coach. The Bradenton native is respected as an offensive coach and a strong recruiter in the state of Florida, giving Seminoles fans plenty of reasons to be excited about the future after losing a national title-winning coach to the SEC. As it turns out, the wait for the next head coach didn't take all that long like officials promised. Time for the Recruiting Class is of the essence.

Bolden is the third decommitment for OR since the Taggart-to-Florida State rumors began, joining Lenzy and four-star athlete Tre'Shaun Harrison. According to 247Sports, he reeled in the nation's ninth best recruiting class for 2018 with nine 4-star recruits, four of which were from Florida.
