Colorado police are searching for an armed and unsafe man who is a suspect in the shooting of three at a Walmart store in a Denver suburb Wednesday night.

Colorado police indicated that "multiple parties are down" following a shooting at a Walmart in Thornton, Colorado on Wednesday night.

Police have not provided a number of people who may have been shot. Police believe his vehicle to be a red Mitsubishi Mirage.

According to authorities, two men were killed and a woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died.

"We don't know exactly what the motive of the person was, but it was certainly a bad act", Avila said.

It is located off Interstate 25 in Thornton, which is north of downtown Denver.

Police in Thornton announced the shooting in a tweet Wednesday evening and advised people to stay away from the area.

Smith said he and other customers had trouble getting the door to open as they tried to get out of the store.

"The employees started screaming". Avila says he doesn't know how many rounds were fired.

Investigators have not released any details about the circumstances of the shooting or the condition of the injured woman.

A spokesman for the Thornton Police Department could not be immediately reached by AFP.
