Anantnag: Five CRPF soldiers were injured when militants attacked their convoy, here in Lazibal area of Anantnag town on Thursday morning.

The injured personnel have been admitted to a hospital, he said, adding that an operation has been launched to track down the assailants.

The attack took place when there was no Road Opening Party (ROP) in the area.

Unconfirmed reports suggest four jawans of CRPF were injured.

A police spokesperson told Rising Kashmir that, "A convoy of CRPF 96 battalion with six buses was attacked by militants resulting in injuries to CRPF personnel".

Lashkher-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack. Security forces also retaliated but the militants escaped, they said.

Inspector General, CRPF, Zulfikar Hassan said the jawans were returning to their camp near Pahalgam when their vehicle was attacked. "Reinforcements have been sent to nab the attackers", said a police official.
