Deepika Padukone's Rani Padmavati is the strength of Shahid Kapoor's Maharawal Ratan Singh and portraying it in gloriously coloured visuals is Padmavati's second song, Ek Dil Ek Jaan. The frame opens with Shahid, who looks regal befitting a king, while his lady love looks at him adorably from the big balcony of the palace.
The music video, of course being a part of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, is visually magnificent. Making it even more melancholy is the juxtaposition of Padmavati-Ratan Singh love story as it goes from the days of peace to war waiting to happen.
In the video, Shakira and Beyonce are seen shaking a leg on the Ghoomar song and to see global pop icons like them dance to the folk dance instead of Deepika Padukone doing her classical moves, is amusing in itself.
Crooned in the soothing voice of Shivam Pathak, the lovely song has been penned by lyricist A M Turaz. Shivam Pathak has lent his voice for the song. The makers of the film have released second song Ek Dil Ek Jaan after folk song "Ghoomar". The 2.5-minute video shows some intimate moments between Deepika and Shahid. While both Shahid and Deepika convey a lot through their smiles and expressions, it's mostly their eyes that do all the talking as the song plays in the backdrop. Deepika's Ghoomar dance in its first song also impressed everyone.
The song also reminds us of Bhansali's previous song Laal Ishq from Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, which featured Deepika and Ranveer Singh.
As the controversies keep surrounding Padmavati, the release date nears.
