Mike Evans Sparks Bucs-Saints Brawl With Brutal Cheap Shot On Marshon Lattimore

The NFL suspended Tampa Bay receiver Mike Evans for one game Monday for unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness in the Buccaneers' loss at New Orleans.

A brawl almost broke out in the third quarter after Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston poked the Saints' Marshon Lattimore on the back of his head.

Saints coach Sean Payton was surprised that Evans wasn't ejected.

Evans should find out early in the week if he's facing a possible suspension so that there would be time for the appeals process to play out before the Bucs face the Jets next Sunday.

"My first instinct was to go help my teammate, even though I've been knowing [Evans] since Texas A&M days", said Saints CB De'Vante Harris, who knocked Evans off Lattimore.

On the other hand, from what we saw on Sunday, the whole incident between Lattimore and Winston that caused Evans to throw the CB to the ground like it was a WWE match was instigated by Winston. When Lattimore turned around and shoved Winston, Evans came out of nowhere and leveled possibly the cheapest shot in the National Football League this season.

The Associated Press reported the scuffle erupted when quarterback Jameis Winston pressed his finger into the back of Lattimore's helmet during a dead-ball period between a failed third-down pass and a punt. Jameis can not, under any circumstances, come off the sideline when he's not even playing in the game. That's not having your teammates' back.

Evans only managed 1 receptions for 13 yards on Sunday, bringing him to 40 receptions, 532 yards and 4 touchdowns on the year.

"If I would have known what I know [now], Mike probably should have been ejected".
