The Trump family has celebrated Thanksgiving in peculiar fashion

President Donald Trump thanked USA troops for their service on Thursday, assuring them "we're really winning" against America's foes as he celebrated Thanksgiving at his private club in Florida and provided lunch for Coast Guard men and women on duty for the holiday.

On the Trumps' own Thanksgiving menu for family and friends at Mar-a-Lago: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, red snapper, Florida stone crab, baked goods, local produce and cheeses, and a selection of cakes and pies for dessert.

"When I hear phrases like 'Putin plays chess, Obama plays checkers, ' or moreover, 'Trump plays chess, ' I feel I have my duty to defend the game that I have been playing for decades", Kasparov said on Politico's Office Message podcast.

He also included a small report on the state of the nation, saying, "your Country is starting to do really well". "We also offer a special word of thanks for the fearless men and women of our Armed Forces, many of whom must celebrate this holiday separated from the ones for whom they are most thankful".

He later highlighted how thankful Americans should feel toward their country in the annual Thanksgiving video. He commented on a tweet posted by Washington Post columnist Greg Sargent about an opinion piece he wrote on Trump's tweets about LaVar Ball.

Among the equipment admired by Trump is the F-35 stealth fighter jet, which he recalled asking "Air Force guys" about once.

"Everybody is talking about the progress you've made in Afghanistan since I opened it up, and you've turned it around in the last three-to-five months like nobody has seen", Trump said, speaking with the US Army's 82nd Airborne Division via satellite.

He also tweeted that he'll be visiting a Coast Guard facility in Florida later in the day.

"As many of you know, I have been very active in overturning a number of executive actions by my predecessor". The First Lady jumped in to tell the group: "Happy Thanksgiving!"

"What are my chances of beating him in an arm wrestling contest? Trouble? I think I'd be in trouble", he said.
