Amichand, Ashok's father expressed happiness but claimed that his son was ill-treated by the Gurugram police. "Ashok told me that while he was in Gurugram Police custody, he was mercilessly beaten up on his chest".

Ashok Kumar, the bus conductor who was initially accused of murdering Class 2 student Pradyuman Thakur of Ryan International School in Gurugram, was released from the Bhondsi jail on Wednesday.

The family of the bus conductor had earlier said that Kumar was allegedly tortured by the Haryana Police and was made to confess to Pradyuman's murder under "duress".

The CBI also said it had not found any incriminating evidence against Kumar in the case.

Speaking to ANI, Ashok's wife said that the police authorities beat him up, hung him upside down, tortured him and even sedated him to confess for the murder of Pradyuman.

However, on November 6, in a sudden turn of events, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended a Class 11 student in connection with the killing and said that it did not find any evidence against Ashok, who was apprehended by the Gurgaon Police.

"We knew from the beginning that he wasn't involved in the murder".

On September 8 evening, hours after Pradyuman Thakur was killed inside a washroom of the Ryan International School's Bhondsi branch, Gurgaon Police claimed a major breakthrough and said Ashok Kumar had confessed to the murder. The Gurgaon Police did not carry out a proper investigation.

Kumar's uncle Omprakash Chopra was summoned by CBI on Tuesday, after an audio clip, purportedly of him talking to a family member of the juvenile suspect, was circulated on messenger platforms.

The case was later transferred to the CBI, which eventually found that a senior student of the school committed the crime in a bid to "postpone the examination and parent-teachers meet".
