Wenger on injuries, Sanchez, Chambers, Overmars, Merson

Sanchez and Ozil's deals expire in the summer, meaning they could leave Arsenal for free at the end of the season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says contract talks are "going well" with Mesut Ozil, but "it's possible" he and Alexis Sanchez will leave in January.

Arsene Wenger discussed a whole manner of topics during his Arsenal press conference on Thursday, from Alexis Sanchez's mental state to Paul Merson's return to football.

'I always said the fact that we didn't find an agreement previous year doesn't mean the player will necessarily leave.

Today Wenger admitted that it's "possible" both players could be sold in January.

"Both players are happy here - I hope the situation can turn around".

The Gunners face Watford in their first game after the global break on Saturday lunchtime, but they are dealing with something of an injury crisis.

The Germany global is expected to be available against Watford on Saturday, however, although it's unlikely that Wenger will put him straight back into the starting line-up.

"Sanchez has been trying to leave for the previous year or so, was unable to get his move on deadline day and now Chile have not qualified for the World Cup".

"It was very physical and mentally I will have to assess the situation". I want what is best for him wherever he goes.

"When you don't have the World Cup, you focus on your club".

"I didn't want to speak to him much [at full time] because I know how tough it is and also because I didn't want for people to interpret things in a way that would have put my professionalism in doubt".

"Jack can open space, he can play in tight areas and can get out of them". "I believe that Jack is in the best form that I have seen him for a long time".
