Benjamin was a notorious bank robber in the 1960s and even made the FBI's most wanted list after escaping from a Texas prison.

Their father was Patrick Benjamin Paddock, who went by an alias Benjamin Hoskins Paddock, among others, according to newspaper archives.

An FBI most wanted poster from 1969 says Paddock was convicted of bank robbery, automobile larceny, and "confidence game".

A few months after his escape, Benjamin carried out a bank robbery in San Francisco-leading the Federal Bureau of Investigation to add him to their Top 10 Most Wanted list, according to VICE.

Years before he orchestrated the worst mass shooting in US history, the 64-year-old had worked several jobs in government agencies - including the U.S.

Before Sunday, Stephen Paddock seemed to be easing into his older years in relatively unremarkable fashion.

"He's a guy who lived in a house in Mesquite and drove down and gambled in Las Vegas".

When he was 7 years old, and winning plaudits for his musical ability, his father was getting arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Las Vegas for a string of Phoenix bank robberies that year, according to local newspaper clips at the time.

Don Bishoff, a columnist for The Register-Guard of Eugene, wrote in 1998 that Paddock pleaded no contest to the charges, but he received no jail time.

Stephen Paddock's brother Eric confirmed Monday that Patrick Paddock was his father, and NY dug up his old "Wanted by FBI" poster, which reveals that Patrick Paddock also went by such names as Benjamin Hoskins Paddock, Perry Archer, and "Big Daddy".

Police have yet to find a motive for the attack.

"We didn't know him", Eric Paddock said of their father.

The brandit's son Stephen Paddock committed the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history. "There's absolutely no sense, no reason he did this".

Eric Paddock told the Orlando Sentinel that he had helped his brother move from Florida to Nevada two years ago, saying his brother wanted to play video poker and escape the humidity.
