Wide receiver Odell Beckham had to be carted off the field after coming down hard on his left leg in the fourth quarter of their 27-22 loss to the Chargers.
At that point, as they walked off the field after perhaps their worst quarter of football - and in this 0-6 season that's saying a lot - it didn't even feel like it mattered whether they won or lost. It was the same ankle that he had injured in training camp and forced him to miss Week 1.
Eli Manning fumbled on the next play and Los Angeles turned that turnover into a score three plays later.
Earlier in the game both Marshall and Shepard left with ankle injuries on separate plays in the half and did not return. He led NY in catches coming into Sunday, having caught 21 of the 27 passes headed his way - far better than Odell Beckham's efficiency rate of 20 catches on 33 targets. He had just two catches in the Giants' first two games, but combined for 14 catches in Weeks 3 and 4. And the Giants went on to lose the game. Shepard came into Sunday's meeting as the Giants' leading receiver with 254 yards and one touchdown.
