Affleck then tweeted an apology to the actress, saying, "I acted inappropriately toward Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologize". McGowan then went to Instagram to summon her "Rose army" to fight the power, claiming "powerful forces" were working against her. "Twitter has suspended me", she captioned the notice.
Affleck was also called out by Twitter at large for both supporting his brother, director and actor Casey Affleck, when he was accused a year ago of sexual harassment on the set of his movie Manchester by the Sea.

Meanwhile, actor and screenwriter Seth MacFarlane has explained a joke he made against Weinstein during a 2013 Oscars lead-up ceremony "came from a place of loathing and anger". This happened after Rose had tweeted several times this week about Weinstein and about Ben Affleck.
Other Twitter users have since devised a plan to boycott Twitter on Friday, October 13, in support of women like McGowan who have been silenced for sharing their experiences. She reportedly received a settlement of $100,000 from Weinstein over an incident that took place in 1997.
"The additional allegations of assault that I read this morning made me sick".
Weinstein is accused of pressuring young women into sexual favors in return for promising to advance their careers. She also started a petition calling for the entire board of Weinstein's production company to resign.
