Older entries in the series have appeared on non-Nintendo hardware, but with Shin Megami Tensei 4: Apocalypse having only appeared on 3DS, it's possible that SMT V could be a Switch-only title, too.
We also got to see a short new trailer for the game, which appeared to show in engine footage rather than carefully pre-rendered enemy models. At the beginning of this year, Atlus launched a 25th-anniversary event for the Shin Megami Tensei series with a logo that hinted heavily at a new major installment.
Shin Megami Tensei 5 is finally coming, and Atlus' flagship role-playing game franchise is landing on the Nintendo Switch. Despite having originally been teased back in January during the Nintendo Switch reveal presentation, we've heard hide nor hair of the Switch title, but now we've gotten our first glimpse at the upcoming game. In the tunnels around Tokyo lie the corpses of devils that died in the city, and the trailer closes when high school students are surrounded, and presumably killed, by devils that still threaten the city's inhabitants. It looks like we'll be heading back to modern-day Japan this time around, and demons have again invaded. With Persona living happily on Sony consoles, it looks like Atlus is set to keep Shin Megami Tensei proper with Nintendo.
We don't have a release date or any other info for SMT 5 other than what we can see in the trailer.
