Moto X Play Starts Receiving Android

Motorola starts rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Moto X Play

Earlier today, we reported that Moto had started pushing out the Android Nougat update to the Moto X Play.

Motorola had a good reputation for being quick with firmware updates for most devices. We saw history repeat itself with the Moto X (2014) when it was updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop ahead of the Nexus 5. And brings all the goodies offered in Nougat along with Google's duo app and all the expected stability as well as performance improvements. One of those phone is the Moto X Pure Edition, a phone with a loyal group of fans that take great pride in its minimalist software and exceptional (for its time) hardware. The Moto X Style is what its iteration is called in Brazil.

As of now, there are still many popular devices such as the Moto X Play, Moto G4 Play, and Droid Maxx 2 that are still waiting for firmware updates from past year. However, when the update rolled out in the country the Moto X Play handset was skipped. The Moto X Pure was not found in the list of smartphones that Moto confirmed were getting Android Oreo. And will receive all the major OS and security updates like the Pixel devices.

Motorola released the Nougat update for an iteration of this handset back in July.

As per the norm, these updates will spread across various regions in phases, so not worry if you haven't received the pop-up yet.

Yippee! My Moto X Pure phone got updated to Nougat today! Keep checking manually by heading straight to Settings - About Phone - System updates.
