If you haven't already realized that Apple Music's Carpool Karaoke: The Series is not your mother's Late Late Show bit, then next week's episode with Metallica will seal the deal. But whether the episode ever sees the light of day will be "completely" up to Bennington's family.

As you can see in the video above, the band members were joined by comedian Billy Eichner for their visit, which found them wandering around Los Angeles while singing a Disney soundtrack number, one of Rihanna's biggest hits and - of course - revisiting pages from their own songbook.

This week James Corden, executive producer of Carpool Karaoke, opened up about the late star, telling the Associated Press the fate of the Linkin Park episode will rest in the hands of Bennington's loved ones.

"We will approach it in whichever manner his family or the people that were involved in that episode, however they would like it to be handled", Corden said of the episode, which was originally set to air in October. He called Bennington's death a "tragedy" and said the decision about whether to air the singer's episode would be entirely up to his family.

Just when we thought James Corden's Carpool Karaoke couldn't get any better, it just did!

Corden's message was appreciated by Bennington's widow, Talinda - who thanked him for his words on Twitter.

Meanwhile, showrunner Eric Pankowski confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter: "We've been in conversations with the band and the family, and all the representatives of the band". Now we know why they were doing it - and you can catch a quick glimpse of that portion of the episode in the teaser too.
