Liverpool FC reject Coutinho's request to leave

Liverpool owners FSG had issued a statement on Friday, insisting there was no chance of Coutinho moving on this month.

Liverpool rebuffed a £72million bid from Barcelona for the Brazilian, with Kop boss Jurgen Klopp revealing he would sit down with his star player and underline his importance to the team.

In Rakitic, Liverpool would be getting an entirely new player to Coutinho.

"As players, if you're sat in the dressing room and your fellow player's over there and he's said "I want to leave, I don't want to play for the club anymore" - [then] I don't want to play with him, simple as that".

And Barcelona's interest in getting Coutinho on-board has intensified following the departure of Neymar to Paris St-Germain.

I don't expect Watford to allow Liverpool to hit them on the break and expect to see a solid Hornets performance with all-eyes on Nathaniel Chalobah, who has been nibbled at in the betting to make Gareth Southgate's squad for the World Cup in Russian Federation and is 4/1 to make the Three Lions squad from 5/1 with BetVictor.

Liverpool were often undone from set pieces last season and new boy Mohamed Salah was clearly unimpressed with the defending he witnessed.

"When FSG say something like this it is 100 per cent clear", said Klopp.

It is believed that a close family member of Coutinho's told Sky Sports: "Philippe has tried very hard to find an amicable solution to this situation but to no avail".

Barcelona's plans to sign Philippe Coutinho to fill the void left by the departure of Neymar appear to be dead in the water after Liverpool released a statement on Friday announcing they will not sell the Brazilian playmaker at any cost.

For Liverpool fans, it won't be the first time they have lost a big name player to Barca, with the Catalonians stealing both Luis Suarez and Javier Mascherano in recent years.

"I was not playing at Chelsea so I took the decision to go somewhere else".

The Brazil global was missing with a back injury, according to Liverpool, although he might not have been in the right frame of mind to play anyway after handing in a transfer request on Friday in light of interest in the playmaker from Barcelona. I was seven or eight years old so I was playing just to enjoy myself.
