President Trump will reveal "next week" whether or not he has taped private conversations between himself and fired FBI Director James Comey, according to the president's legal team.

He also said that any other explanations that have come from the White House were "lies, plain and simple", as Jessica reports.

Comey testified he had nine one-on-one conversations with Trump - and detailed each in memos just after they met for fear that the president would subsequently lie about their interactions.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said in a statement that if Trump disagrees with Comey's sworn testimony, he should offer his side of things under oath.

"Lordy, I hope there are tapes", former FBI Director James Comey said regarding conversations between him and the President.

"So if Robert Mueller wanted to speak with you about that-" the reporter said, referring to the Special Counsel Robert Mueller, investigation Russia's interference in the USA election.

Today, Mr Trump was coy when asked about the tapes, telling media at the White House press conference, "I'll tell you about it over a very short period of time", he said. "And there'd be nothing wrong if I did say it".

The statement went on to say that Mr. Trump "feels completely and totally vindicated", and that "he is eager to continue to move forward with his agenda".

Taking questions at the White House, the President of the United States said, to the world, "Should I take one of the killer networks, that treat me so badly, as fake news?".

In referring to Comey, Trump was citing the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's acknowledgment that he had asked a friend to leak his memos about his conversations with the president.

Mr Trump also told the former FBI director that he hoped Mr Comey "could let it go", referring to the investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Attention in Washington has turned to Trump's alleged request that Comey drop the Flynn investigation. I mean, think of it. "Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction". Trump denied saying that to Comey about Flynn, who resigned in February after it emerged that he misled Vice President Mike Pence about calls he made to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

Shortly after the press conference, leaders of the House Intelligence Committee said they had asked the White House whether there were any such tapes.

The U.S. President has insinuated that there are recordings of their conversations. "There's no ambiguity in it", Trump Jr. said on Fox News" "Justice with Judge Jeanine".
