Roman Polanski's victim asks judge to dismiss sexual offence case

Geimer, who lives in Hawaii and was accompanied by her husband of almost 30 years, said she had recently become a grandmother and did not want her family subjected to any more suffering.

Geimer downplayed Polanski's actions saying "I knew he was sorry the next day, I was sure he instantly regretted what he had done".

Polanski fled, getting the last seat on the next British Airways flight to London. That's satisfactory to me.

Samantha Geimer was 13 when the French-Polish director assaulted her at the Hollywood Hills home of his friend the actor Jack Nicholson during a modelling shoot in 1977.

The Oscar victor has been a fugitive since he fled to France in 1978 on the eve of sentencing for having unlawful sex with a minor. Thanks to a deal with the prosecution, he spent six weeks in custody and was released.

"The judge, in the presence of the district attorney, the defense lawyer and the victim's lawyer, (in 1978) said he was to do at the most 90 days", defense attorney Harland Braun said.

Since then, the Chinatown director has remained a fugitive.

She said Friday that the settlement did not influence her decision to speak on Polanski's behalf and was offended by the notion she "was bought and paid for".

"Sharon was not only a loving wife to him, but that is his child in that grave". "I'm going to ask for the case to be resolved in a fair manner, because the justice system is more important than any one person's crime".

In 1988, she sued him for sexual assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment. Together, we still had a piece of her.

Tamar Arminak, Bynes' attorney, said Bynes has complied with all conditions of her probation from the series of driving violations which included a DUI, two alleged hit-and-run incidents, tickets and driver's license suspension. At a news conference after the court hearing Friday, she said she was offended when she read his 1984 autobiography, in which he described their encounter as consensual.

Polanski and his lawyers argue he's the victim of judicial misconduct.

On Friday, Samantha Geimer, the victim in the infamous Roman Polanski rape case back in 1977, addressed Judge Gordon in a Los Angeles courtroom, asking that the case against the director of Rosemary's Baby be dismissed.

"I would like to ask you to consider sentencing Mr Polanski to time served in absentia".

Geimer had long supported Polanski's efforts to end the case that limits his movements to three European countries, but it was the first time she spoke in favor of him in court.

After a few turbulent years filled with driving violations, controversial tweets and being hospitalized under a psychiatric hold, Amanda Bynes is speaking out for the first time - and wants to return to acting.

"The people implore this court to deny defendant's motions and to summarily deny any future request to re-litigate these issues absent a showing of new facts or a change in circumstance", Hanisee wrote.

Judge Scott Gordon said he would respond in writing and thanked Ms Geimer for her bravery.

Agreeing that Samantha Geimer and her loved ones deserve the closure provided in the successful resolution of the case, Judge Scott Gordon added that Roman Polanski holds the key to bringing her peace by finally surrendering himself to USA authorities.
