WNBC (http://bit.ly/2s9wfAl ) says the men also smashed watermelons and threw bunches of bananas before fleeing.

The two men, who have not yet been identified, were filmed at the Stadium Gourmet Deli in the Bronx shortly before 5am on May 29.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said a tipster helped identify one of the two men caught on video in the freaky May 29 attack at the Stadium Gourmet Deli near Yankee Stadium on E. 161st St. and Walton Ave.

Hani Jirgis, the store's owner, told ABC 7 his employee was very seriously hurt.

Surveillance video shows two men slinging avocados like fastballs.

The video shows one man, wearing a black t-shirt, grab avocados from a stand and start pelting them at the worker behind the counter.

A clerk at a store near Yankee Stadium suffered a broken jaw and facial fractures when an angry customer threw avocados at him, CBS New York reported Tuesday.

After being viciously pelted with avocados, bananas and melons, the 21-year-old shop assistant was taken to hospital.

Both suspects are described as 25 to 30 years old. "The guy, he needed surgery on his eyes", Jirgis said.
