It is believed that over 50 firefighters are tackling the blade which broke out on Turin Street at approximately 4:30pm this afternoon.

A flat on the third floor and roof is alight, the fire service said in a statement.

More than 40 firefighters are on the scene of the blaze in Bethnal Green, with footage from the scene showing flames pouring from windows of a four storey block.

It comes not long after at least 79 people lost thier lives in a blaze at London's Grenfell Tower, and the same day hundreds were forced from thier homes after safety inspections.

The man is being treated for smoke inhalation.
