Hawaii will become the first state to ignore President Donald Trump's exit from the Paris climate accord by signing two bills keeping the state in line with the goals and limits set by the agreement.

The legislation signed by Ige commits Hawaii to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and creates a commission to develop strategies for fighting climate change.

"I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris", Trump said in his statement on the Paris Agreement last week.

Tin Ponlok, secretary general of the National Council for Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Environment, said it was "regretful" that Trump made a decision to abandon the agreement.

North Korea signed the historic accord, and in withdrawing, the USA joins only two other countries who stand outside it - Nicaragua, which refused because it believed the agreement did not go far enough, and the only country that may be more isolated diplomatically than North Korea: Syria.

Tek Vannara, executive director of the NGO Forum, said that Trump's "protectionism" would badly affect countries like Cambodia and urged the U.S. to reconsider the move.

President Donald Trump said the USA would abandon the agreement last week after months of suspense.

"The "America First Policy" advocated by Trump led to the withdrawal from the Paris Agreement", a foreign ministry spokesperson said in a statement released through the state-owned Korean Central News Agency.

Brown signed similar collaboration agreements over the past several days with leaders in two Chinese provinces, Jiangsu and Sichuan.

Ige noted at the signing ceremony Tuesday at the state capitol that Hawaii is seeing the impacts of climate change first-hand.

Tuesday's foreign ministry statement linked Trump's "selfish" positions on climate change with the USA administration's stern opposition to North Korea's nuclear program. Carvalho said climate change can not be ignored.

Communist Party leaders pledged that greenhouse gas emissions will peak no later than 2030 under the Paris pact, and start to fall after then. The tweet links to an article that discusses China's plans to produce clean energy as much as the U.S.in 2030. The Obama administration hyped up the summit, but it was largely seen as a failure. "Importantly, it is also out of step with what is happening in the United States". Another 13% said they did not know.
