Counter-Protests Outnumber Anti-Muslim Marches in Several Cities Across US

Counter-protesters banged on drums and shouted "Racists, racists go home!" Clusters of protesters and counter-protesters gathered on four corners of an intersection at a memorial to the slain, yelling and waving American flags and posters proclaiming various causes.

In many cities, the ACT protestors were outnumbered by counter protestors who said the protests were fueling racism and anti-Islamic hatred.

Shariah, Takim said, refers to guidelines or principles - how Muslims should live.

"This is a march against Sharia law and for human rights", the group said in a press release.

Those rallies were met with counter-protests held by people saying ACT for America is distorting Islam's teachings.
