Floyd Mayweather clashes with Walsh brothers in London

Floyd Mayweather's protégé Gervonta Davis defends his IBF world title against English contender Liam Walsh in London on Saturday evening. But Alexander jumped in to save Walsh from further punishment at 2:11 of the round, in what felt like a quick stoppage that Walsh protested. Walsh has fought for regional, English, Commonwealth and European titles and a world title shot is the next natural step.

Davis scaled just 2oz over the 9st 4lb limit at the Theatre Royal Stratford East yesterday, but needed almost two hours and two more attempts before he made weight.

Davis wants to become boxing's pound-for-pound No 1 and standout star just as his promoter Mayweather was before he announced his retirement in September 2015.

CONOR MCGREGOR has been angling for a money-spinning fight with Floyd Mayweather for some time now - and he's not been subtle. He was looking to load up on a few major punches, however was unable to connect with much of anything to get his foe's attention.

UFC president Dana White said that he plans to meet with Mayweather's side to finish up negotiations, at which point we'll know the fate of this matchup between two of the biggest PPV draws of all-time.

"He was hurt pretty bad; the referee did his job", Davis said.

Gervonta Davis has a terrifying 93% knockout ratio.

Davis was posturing and talking at the start of the third round before exploding into action. A massive left hook to the chin by Davis less than a minute into the round buckled the knees of Walsh and sent him staggering towards the ropes.

The challenger returned to his feet after a count of nine but remained unsteady and the fight should have been ended there and then.

On a completely different note, and making headlines in the United Kingdom, Mayweather lashed out at Liam's brothers, Michael and Ryan Walsh.

"I wholeheartedly believe I will be a world champion".

Light-heavyweight Anthony Yarde, from nearby Ilford, is another one of promoter Frank Warren's stable who is on the way up.

It was the first defeat of Walsh's career (21-1-KO14), while Davis extended his ideal record to 18-0-(17KO). After going down 3 more times in the 4th, the corner for Hobbs threw in the towel to the fighters dismay, however this fight was in the books long before the towel arrived.
