A much-changed Madrid side snatched victory at El Molinon thanks to Isco's two goals, which included a 90th-minute victor, to stretch their lead over Barcelona before the Catalans closed the gap back down to three points at the Nou Camp.

Constantly linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, Isco was recalled to the starting XI after the midweek Champions League win at Bayern Munich and netted a superlative solo stunner in the first half.

Saturday saw second half goals from Joselu and Pedro Mosquera give Deportivo la Coruna a win to lift them well clear of the relegation zone and nearly assure their place in the Primera Liga next season.

Sporting opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Mikel Vesga scooped a pass over Madrid's defence which Duje Cop slammed home, and then Isco equalised three minutes later with a brilliant individual goal.

Madrid survived an almighty scare in its 3-2 victory at Sporting on Saturday, overturning a 2-1 deficit as Isco struck the victor with eight seconds of regulation time remaining. Isco has been very good and will be happy for the goals but more so because of the result.

Vesga then scored a looping header before Alvaro Morata levelled with his head and Isco got the 20-yard victor.

Barca host Real Sociedad later on Saturday (19:45 BST), with their next La Liga match against Madrid in El Clasico next Sunday. "Everyone has fought until the end".

The lead lasted just three minutes as Real responded with a wonder goal of their own.

The second half couldn't have gotten off to a worse start and that was despite Real Madrid coming close to getting their noses in front after James' 48th-minute free-kick was met by Nacho and the ball danced along the goal-line.

The Bayern players landed in Spain convinced they can overturn their first-leg deficit, with playmaker Thiago Alc√°ntara tweeting: "Never give up".

"That is the hard part of this job, leaving very good players on the bench".

Each of the two players would be starters at most other sides, but Isco is ahead of them all and his two moments of magic made the difference in this match.

Real Madrid players celebrate.

The league leaders show no signs of letting up and collected another three precious points as attentions now turn to the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Bayern.
