TV personality Regis Philbin says former "Live!" co-host Kelly Ripa hasn't spoken to him since his departure from the show in 2011.
Kelly Ripa has cold-shouldered Regis Philbin since the two said good-bye after working for a decade in a strained relationship on "Live!".
"She got very offended when I left", Philbin told King. Philbin added, "Never once did they ask me to go back [on the show]".
Philbin said that he thinks that Ripa took him leaving personally. "That was [years] ago". When asked if they keep in contact, Philbin replied, "Not really".
The two starred alongside each other on the ABC morning talk show from 2001 to 2011 before Philbin, 85, chose to quit the gig.
In a new interview with Larry King Now Wednesday, Philbin explained the reason behind the pair's rift.
"I've been there long enough to understand how she reacts to things", said Strahan. "Every day?" Philbin asked King when he was questioned about returning. Would it be every night? There are times when I really miss it and wish I'd never stopped. The co-hosts haven't talked since then, Philbin told Larry King. Live! with Regis and Kelly earned the youthful exclamation point: ratings skyrocketed, and Regis and Kelly had an entertaining respected father/enthusiastic daughter chemistry. Gifford spent 15 years co-hosting with Regis before Ripa took over.
