The SP president also countered Modi's jibe at Aligarh that the BJP storm in the State, forced the SP to seek alliance with the Congress.

"His barb came at a series of election meetings in Sitapur and adjoining Lakhimpur Kheri a day after Modi said in Aligarh on Sunday that, ".When the wind is so strong, even a young leader can not face it and seeks help of anything.Even a pole. But this time BJP "aandhi" (storm) is so strong that the Chief Minister fears that he might be blown off".

"Everyone has suffered badly in their quest for "achche din"; they had to stand in queues from morning to night to take out their own hard- earned money from banks", he said in another meeting at Auraiya.

"Modi ji has come up with a new scheme-SCAM. I want to know that if Narendra Modi could waive off loans of Rs 1.10 lakh crore of his industrialists friends then why he could not do same with the farmers", pointed Rahul while adding that despite of Uttar Pradesh one of the most rich state in natural resources, still the farmers here were forced to commit suicide.

"For me SCAM means -Seva, Courage, Ability, Modesty", Rahul Gandhi said.

"I will reply to Prime Minister Modi's SCAM remark".

"After the Uttar Pradesh polls, Prime Minister Modi will realise what the people think of demonetisation". "The Prime Minister says that he is against corruption". The party raised the issue in Parliament on Monday, asking the government to apologise for troubling the masses by announcing demonetisation.

The state will be voting for a new government in a seven-phase election between February 11 and March 8.

Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier rejected the alliance between the SP and the Congress and said that will not campaign for them as he believes that SP is capable enough to fight alone.

The Congress party is contesting the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in alliance with the Samajwadi Party.
