New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady earned his fifth Super Bowl ring on Sunday.
Advertisers who secured a spot during the New England Patriots historic victory over the Atlanta Falcons forked out a record $US5.02 million ($6.54 million) for 30-seconds of precious airtime during one of the world's most watched sporting events.
Brady steered his side to a miraculous 25-point comeback to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 32-28 to win the Super Bowl in overtime. It took just five minutes on the overtime clock for the Patriots to score a touchdown, winning them the game under the overtime period's sudden death clause.
The reason was the deafening boos and jeers around the stadium for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who had doggedly pursued the pair over the Deflategate ball-tampering saga that saw Brady banned from the first four matches of this season.

This moment was 750 days in the making, going back to the 2015 AFC Championship Game, when Colts linebacker D'Qwell Jackson intercepted Brady and tossed the football to the team equipment manager as a souvenir. Ryan was then sacked for a loss of 12.

At one point, Brady whispered something to Belichick that made him grin. In other words, Patrick is taking the possible theft of Brady's jersey very seriously.
For my liking, far too many people want to shout down at everyone and tell them how Tom Brady - even though this would be a statement of opinion and not fact - is the greatest quarterback in the history of the world. Any father who works hard to set an example for his son to follow identified with the pride Tom Brady Sr. must have felt hearing such praise. "Just so happy we were able to get it accomplished".
Broke record for passing yards (466 yards) in Super Bowl.
When told of Brady's remark, Edelman laughed: "I think that's because of our bromance".
