Charles Oakley could have a major impact on the future of the New York Knicks.
With more and more National Basketball Association players taking notice over how the Knicks treated one of their greatest players, it remains to be seen how this incident will affect the franchise's ability to sign star players in the future.
From 1988-98, Oakley made a name for himself as a defensive specialist and on-court enforcer. But he was also much more than that. "And I think that's the most important part, the most important thing that we should be focusing on".
Charles Oakley was eventually released from jail later that evening. "Honest to God, if you could see, I took three steps".
Oakley is the hero in this story. He went on to say that he didn't say anything to New York Knicks owner James Dolan until he was already in handcuffs. But Charles gave the team to Jimmy, probably as Charles learned that his son was incapable of amounting to anything on his own. In 2014, he finally seemed to realize what he was doing wasn't working, and Dolan turned over operations of the Knicks to someone with the stature to rise above the incessant MSG office politics.
As the news of Oakley's arrest spread, I received a dozen or so calls from former Knicks employees who all wanted to help.
Oakley has been critical of the struggling team over the years.
What will the response be during an actual Knicks game?
Innocence lost best describes Kristaps Porzingis as all hell was breaking loose near the Knicks bench and Dolan's team was reclaiming its well-earned place as the biggest laughingstock in pro sports.
Oakley said he bought a ticket to the game, sat down, and within minutes guards were telling him he had to leave.
The 53-year-old former player was arrested at Madison Square Garden last night after getting into a shoving match with security.
And Oakley's thank you from the Knicks is being not welcomed and essentially, thrown out of an arena that fans used to cheer for him on a nightly basis and being thrown in the back of a police vehicle with handcuffs on.
Police arrested and charged him with three counts of third-degree assault.
After the Knicks assured everyone that they would match any offer for Jeremy Lin after his surprising star turn with the Knicks, Dolan is reportedly angered by the poison pill contract put together by the Houston Rockets in the summer of 2012 and ordered ties cut with Lin. He is a Knicks fan, after all. Like, Knicks fans aren't Patriots fans. I didn't say anything to him. "You are a mentally handicapped fish". "But that shows you the type of league this is: "what have you done for me lately" league". Demonstrably true. "I could murder you with my bare hands at half-court and this entire arena would cheer".
"He's the best teammate in the world". The time for rich white owners to sic an entire security force upon you in order to shut you up is now.
"I'm going to find out what's going on".
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, LeBron gave a "generic statement" following the loss rather than taking questions before adding, "Oh, I missed one, Charles Oakley for president".
