Kuldeep Yadav has been roped in as a replacement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced on Tuesday.
Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has replaced injured leg-spinner Amit Mishra in the India squad that will take on Bangladesh in a one-off Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad from February 9 to 13.
Kuldeep is yet to play a Test for India. Mishra played India's last Test, also against England, in December when Haryana team-mate Jayant Yadav was ruled out with injury. Mishra was ruled out after sustaining a knee injury while fielding against England in the third and final Twenty20 global at Bengaluru recently. For Mishra, this comes as a setback as he needs to undergo more medical examination to determine the extent of his injury.
Kuldeep not only impressed with the ball over the past season, but also had a strong outing as a batsman, scoring his maiden first-class century against Baroda in December.
Following their recent victory against England in all the three formats, the No. 1 ranked Test side will hold the edge going into the one-off match in Hyderabad.
