Elon Musk Says We Must Become Cyborgs To Interface With Artificial Intelligence

Tesla launched a dedicated website for customers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), CEO Elon Musk announced on Monday, as the USA firm continues to expand internationally.

Once machines achieve artificial general intelligence-an all-encompassing understanding of the world-they will be smarter than the world's smartest people, thus rendering humans useless.

Musk said humans need to create an artificial layer of the biological brain to access information quickly to compete with artificial intelligence. "That is going to happen much faster than people realize and it's going to be a great convenience", Musk said.

Tesla's official launch in the UAE is coinciding with Elon Musk attending the World Government Summit in Dubai, according to the publication. "It's mostly about the bandwidth, the speed of the connection between your brain and the digital version of yourself, particularly output". He explained that computers can communicate at "a trillion bits per second", while humans can do about 10 bits per second. Musk did note that this situation is not something to fear just yet, however, its possibility does keep him up at night. "In fact I think it might be the single largest employer of people", Musk said.

Users will be able to customize the battery capacity, rear-wheel or drive type, enhanced AutoPilot, which costs over AED 19,000, full self-driving capability, which costs another AED 11,500, premium package for another AED 13,400, Smart Air suspension, and more. That's great for the people who will use it, but less so for those who are now behind the wheel for a living. "It will be very disruptive and very quick".

That same fate could hit other industries and, according to Musk, humanity itself. As a result, he feels that humans will have to merge themselves with machines.
