Would Lawrence want to play Mystique in the next Guardians of the Galaxy film?
Lawrence's statements negate her earlier claims that she will still reprise her role as Mystique in "X-Men", possibly because the presence of Pratt in the "Guardians of Galaxy" is another incentive for the 26-year-old actress. "I mean, as things are right now, I can't see, like, just saying goodbye to everyone I know and love and just peacing out", she said before adding, "I think the journey sounds wonderful".
Fans and producers are now torn whether it would be a good idea to introduce Mystique in "Guardians of the Galaxy", since many consider her a core part of the X-Men franchise. "I would choose that over doing another 'X-Men' movie maybe", she laughed. "I wonder if they can do that".
Various reports in the trade press have put her pay-day for "Passengers" at around $20 million, while Pratt is said to have earned $10-12 million.
However, that particular "X-Men" chapter in the comics was not well-received nor is it a good material for movie, the A.V. Club has learned.
Lawrence has been wishy-washy about her future with the "X-Men" franchise.
While there's little to no chance of Mystique popping up in Guardians Vol. 2 - which is already far past its last day of filming - we shouldn't be too shocked to see her make a cameo in a future sequel. Pratt then joked, "This is a binding legal contract".
Distributed by Columbia Pictures, "Passengers" is due to be released in the United States on December 21.
The actress described "Passengers" as "the most original story I can remember even experiencing in a very long time", calling script a "total page turner". Of course, with the rights to the mutants still being held by Fox, seeing Mystique and Star Lord on the same theater screen is virtually an impossibility, unless the MCU and the X-Men universe are able to strike a deal.
