Gold medalist Laurie Hernandez wins 'Dancing with the Stars'

The opening dance number featured all 13 of this seasons cast in an energetic performance.

Eventually, with just the two dancers left, it was announced that Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy were this season's Mirrorball winners, which wasn't too surprising since Hernandez had been the frontrunner nearly the entire season.

"I get a chance to call Laurie Hernandez a friend of mine for a long time, and I'm going to be rooting for her for a really long time", he said.

Len: Miss Dynamite I have got to say, fabulous dance to close a fabulous season.

And, of course, Johnson and other gymnasts were quick to congratulate Hernandez on her victory on social media. "You forget that she's only 16 years old". This is the first time in the history of the ABC dance competition that all stars in the finals were professional athletes.

The new champ praised her fellow finalists as the "most fantastic competitors" and former National Football League star Johnson said he was happy for Hernandez. If they both turn in great performances tonight, it'll all come down to viewers' votes.

This marks Chmerkovskiy's second DWTS win. Congrats again to Laurie and Val! Bruno Tonioli immediately jumped from his seat to rave about Laurie and Val. We can recall that they received their first flawless score during the Cirque du Soleil Night in Week 4 on consistently persisted as strong contenders.

While everyone brought their A-game to the "DWTS" finale, only one team could win it all.

Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews had the results and coming in third place were Calvin & Lindsay, which most of us saw happening.

And without further ado, the victor of the Mirror Ball trophy is ... If you did we have them all, right here for you!

Of course, Hernandez won a Gold Medal at the Summer Olympics just a few months ago.

It turned out that the oddsmakers turned out to be correct - Laurie Hernandez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy were crowned the Dancing with the Stars Season 23 winners.

"DWTS" returns to ABC for Season 24 in March 2017.
