Huawei, the world's third largest smartphone brand according to IDC research, making its own phones in the country will take advantage of India's Make in India program, which offers tax incentives to foreign companies that make products locally. Huawei's new flagship gives you a compact aviation-grade metal-alloy body with a 5.2in Full HD display - with 2.5D glass wrapped around it.
All previous leaks have claimed the phone will either have a 12-megapixel snapper or a mammoth 20-megapixel sensor, topping the dual cameras on the P9. It is the Leica dual lenses that allow for more light to pass through, one sensor being an RGB one and other being a monochrome one. It is powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 955 processor, which is Huawei's home-brewed SoC, clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory with support for expandable storage via hybrid card slot.
The innovation award went to LG G5 for its bold design and the best Smartphone Camera award went to Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
Upon inspecting the official launch invitation, we suspected that the G9 Plus smartphone will be integrated with a dual-camera on the rear. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, with EMUI 4.1 skin on top. The Huawei P9 does not support FM radio though. The smartphone captures regular images in auto mode and turns every subject around to black and white when shot in monochrome mode.
The company also unveiled two tablet PCs, the Matebook and TalkBand B3, which will be making its debut in India soon.
The wide-aperture photography feature on the P9 allows users to experiment with innovative visual effects to create unique images and content. Huawei P9 has a 3000 mAh battery. Huawei also enjoys the numero Uno position in China as the company accounted for 17.2% of smartphone shipments in Q2 2016. The P9, targeted for the users of the growing premium end smartphone market will mark the re-entry of Huawei in this segment after a period of nearly 3 years and would give an impetus to the India growth story for Huawei.
Huawei P9, priced at Rs 39,999, has started selling at ecommerce portal Flipkart from today.
